Clementine's Candy Curse [Prototype]


Happy Halloween!

Back towards the end of September, my daughter and I were just coming up with goofy video game ideas. When I mentioned wanting to make a game for Halloween, she gave me the idea of trick-or-treating while running away from zombies. That idea led to Clementine's Candy Curse.

I have made some 2D games before but never did anything in 3D and so my goal for this game was simple. In one month, make SOMETHING, and release it on Halloween. Hopefully it would turn out good. I had to learn Blender from scratch, 3D modelling, animating, etc to get the game where I wanted it to be. Obviously, it's not perfect, but I'm really proud of what I was able to learn and build in a month.

Currently, the game is in some serious need of polish. You can cheat the scoring system, characters go flying off the planet, things don't look and sound as good as I would like, but the core of the game is there with plenty of room to improve. I'm trying to decide if I want to keep working on it, or just move on to another project, but I really like how this came out so far and I have a lot of ideas to make it better. If I walk away from it now, I'm thinking I'll come back to it next year and really turn it into a full-fledged thing.
